What changed in each release, newest first. Each GitHub Release carries the same notes, and so do the changelogs in the Linux packages. Changes that wait for the next release are not listed yet.

Changed

  • The manual page, --help and the docs now use shorter, plainer sentences.
  • The projected kill ratios now use the film’s table of percentages.
  • Movie mode shows the film’s game clock in the call-back and NORAD scenes.

Fixed

  • Fixed WOPR’s lines that differed from the film, in spacing and spelling.
  • Fixed thirteen misspelt strategy names in the ending’s list.

Added

  • A new Windows installer puts WOPR in the Start menu.
  • A new Mac app, in a .dmg, opens WOPR in a Terminal window.
  • The .deb and .rpm packages add WOPR to your app menu, with an icon.
  • Right-click WOPR in your app menu to start a game or Movie Mode.
  • On Windows, wopr.exe now has an icon and version details.
  • The .rpm and .deb packages and checksums.txt are now signed.

  • wopr --help now ends with a link to the website.
  • If a game ever stops responding, wopr now quits instead of freezing.

  • Linux and macOS downloads now include a manual page with tips for each game.

  • WOPR_SEED sets the seed, as --seed does.
  • wopr -m 3 --only plays just one movie scene, then stops.

  • Movie mode: wopr --movie replays the film’s scenes at WOPR’s terminal.
  • wopr --scenes lists the scenes, and wopr -m 3 starts from the third.
  • Each release now has the bare program for each platform, ready to run.
  • Global Thermonuclear War knows 85 more targets and today’s city names.
  • Type list in Global Thermonuclear War to see the targets you can pick.
  • Checkers moves can be typed without the dash, like c3d4.
